Learn More About Juneteenth
This week’s book pick, All Different Now, tells the story of Juneteenth. In 1862 President Lincoln issued an executive order called the Emancipation Proclamation, which became law in 1863. But it wasn’t until two years later, in 1865, the final order was read in Texas, marking the emancipation of all slaves.
Juneteenth is a day of celebration for the Black community, and a day of reflection and learning for the non-black community.
