Tell us about your first time seeing The Nutcracker

I had actually never seen the Nutcracker prior to performing in it. My ballet teacher in college had a studio nearby and they needed someone to play the Nutcracker so I did it. I totally fell in love with the music, the playfulness, the costumes, the story, everything! And I’ve always had a huge sweet tooth.

What’s the most meaningful gift you’ve ever received and/or given?

When I was a kid, I really wanted to be a writer more than anything. I used to get packs of paper or notebooks and write down whatever I could think of for my stories. One summer my family went to visit my grandparents, but my dad had to work. He drove 8 hours to drop us off and then went back home to work. A week later, he came back to pick us up and take us home. When we got home, he surprised me and bought me a typewriter. I was unbelievably excited! Even with computers being more popular now, I still miss that typewriter.

Clara and the Prince dance in so many exciting places! Where would you most want to dance?

I’ve always wanted to travel to Australia or Japan. Getting the chance to dance in either of those places would be a dream come true!

My favorite children’s book is… because…

How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss because I’ve always loved Christmas, and I loved that the kindness of the Whos and the spirit of Christmas turned him good in the end.

My First Nutcracker is a great way to celebrate the holidays! It is a fun, interactive show that celebrates the magic of dance, theatre, and family.
