Join NYCCT Teaching Artist, Caitlyn, for a digital, interactive & accessible storytime class that mixes books you love with theater games your little one will love – without having to leave home! This month we are celebrating Black History! We will explore stories of black folks who have made an impact on history, music, science, and literature. We will celebrate their contributions and investigate the injustices they faced.
The roots of rap and the history of hip-hop have origins that precede DJ Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash. Kids will learn about how it evolved from folktales, spirituals, and poetry, to the showmanship of James Brown, to the culture of graffiti art and break dancing that formed around the art form and gave birth to the musical artists we know today.
Classes run for 45 minutes live on Zoom!
