Meet the Parent – at Home with Lisa Spiegel and Anika Larsen!

Join us on Monday, June 1st at 8pm for a live conversation with special guests and moms Lisa Spiegel, a nationally recognized child therapist and parenting expert and Anika Larsen, a Tony Award Nominated actress about the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on kids, grownups, and educators.
NYCCT Executive Director, Andrew Frank, will moderate a Q&A with Lisa and Anika, asking all of the important questions you want to know about parenting through and after the Coronavirus crisis.
Then ask Lisa and Anika your questions!

What is Meet the Parent?

New York City Children’s Theater is excited to continue our Meet the Parent series online. Meet the Parent is specifically designed to provide opportunities for our adult audience members to connect with us and each other around issues important to them as parents, grandparents, caretakers, and fans of theater.

Meet Our Parents

Lisa Spiegel received her BA from Vassar College, and has a Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University. From her three decades of working with adults and children she has developed an approach that draws from an eclectic array of disciplines – talk therapy, trauma work, yoga, mindfulness, and parent coaching. Her post-graduate education includes certification in Internal Family Systems Therapy, LifeForce Yoga®, and couples counseling from the Relational Life Institute. Lisa is a Level III trained EMDR practitioner and has used this modality since 2000. She is the author of Internal Family Systems Therapy with Children, published in 2017, and is the co-author with Jean Kunhardt and Sandra K. Basile of A Mother’s Circle.

Anika Larsen has performed on Broadway in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical (for which she was nominated for a Tony Award), Avenue Q, Xanadu, All Shook Up and Rent. Off-Broadway, she was in Zanna, Don’t!; Myths and Hymns; Closer Than Ever; Miracle Brothers; How to Save the World and Find True Love in 90 Minutes; Disaster! and Unbroken Circle. She is on the original cast albums of Beautiful, All Shook Up, Zanna, Don’t!, How to Save the World…, and Xanadu.  Anika wrote and performed in a musical called Shafrika, The White Girl about her childhood growing up in Cambridge, MA with nine brothers and sisters from different races and countries. She released an album, Sing You to Sleep (Yellow Sound Label), in 2014.  Anika majored in theater at Yale University and is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA.
