What’s the best part about being a dancer? What advice would professional dancers give young dancers? What would a dancer do if they weren’t a dancer? We asked the stars of This is Sadie – see what they had to say below!

Rob

The best thing about being a dancer is…getting to connect with my soul and tell stories that make people feel.

If I weren’t a dancer, I would be…a lawyer.

What advice would you give kids who want to be a dancer too? To have your own voice through it all. It’s important to learn, train, and study the art form; but also nurture your own unique way of dancing. Be original.

Taylor

The best thing about acting is…that each time I rehearse, take a dance class, or perform, I feel a new sense of love for my art. This happens because between each time that I dance I experience new things, meet new people, and make new memories that all contribute to myself as an artist. All of these things bring new life to my dancing, which I share with my fellow actors on stage, classmates in dance class, and audiences when I perform. Being a dancer has allowed me to notice the changes I see in myself every day. I love it so much!

If I weren’t an actor, I would be…involved in the Public Health community or helping people in the Special Needs Community. These two areas are things I am still involved in as I pursue my career as an artist in NYC. I think it is so important to be able to talk about what keeps our minds and bodies healthy. Though, even if I stopped being a dancer, i would still have art be a part of my life! Art is all around us!

What advice would you give kids who want to be an actor too? Find time every day to dance. Whether it is in your room or in a dance class – move your body! It is important to train and practice to get better at your skills as a dancer, but at the end of the day just move! It’s simple.

Arianne

The best thing about acting is…the ability to manipulate our bodies in many ways, and create stories out of movement!

If I weren’t an actor, I would be…a Dance Psychologist – not sure if there’s an actual field for that but I think it would be such an interesting career path!

What advice would you give kids who want to be an actor too? I started dancing at the age of 14 as fun little hobby I had to keep me balanced in high school.  I didn’t think it would pull to this exact path in my life. So my advice is..if your heart and spirit pulls you towards being a dancer, do it. Even if you’re scared, do it.
